We had a remarkable mindfulness Teachers session here at our school with Terri Allen from Angels of Light Foundation.
As teachers, our days go by so fast and there’s not much time to take a moment just to sit and literally do nothing and relax and tap into ourselves.
Mindfulness is so important and I know I am lucky that I work in nature but this session inspires the teachers to bring their students out to the farm here at our school on a daily basis. This session helped remind the teachers of the importance of mindful breaks and being in nature for them to relax and recharge. Terri guided us through unique mindful techniques, loving kindness discussions, followed by a magical meditation.
The importance of mindfulness through nature education is that children sit in a classroom a lot and often only have a small amount of time outside. It’s so important for them to be outside as it increases their self-regulation and provides them with an opportunity as an educator or parent to connect with the children in a different way.
Children can observe, notice and experience the world around us in a different way than we usually do, these mindfulness through nature educational sessions Terri brings to our school throughout the year are so very important and makes a huge difference in all of our lives.
